in loving memory of Michael Jackson, The King of Pop.
this is one of my favorite pictures of Mike. him @ a Stevie Wonder session for the “Songs in the Key of Life” album. only in hindsight can we fully appreciate this.
(This week i had to hit yall wit a double feature because i blew it last week and i didn’t get a chance to post)
This shazam song of the week comes from Local Natives-wide eyes
I was at urban outfitters in soho in search of a limited t-shirt from my favorite character domo kun,to make a long story short i ended up leaving the store with a new shazamed song instead of the tee i wanted so badly. this LA based band (orange county to be exact) received major attention at sxsw 09 with there sound that can only be compared to vampire weekend which is a great thing. VW are also from the OC ,if this sound is an average thing out there then im gonna start purchasing everything OC indie rock because i freakin love it!!!!
hope you like it…….. because i really like it….. if you dont like it…… then i dont like you……. just joking…… sorta lol
this shazam song of the week comes from an australian based band called The Temper Trap-sweet disposition!
once again i forgot where i was exactly when i shazamed this song but its so freakin awesome that i need not explain. this video is the live version of the song which sounds just as good as the recorded version which is a rare thing. they are a fairly new and upcoming band that received alot of attention after they performed at sxsw in 2009. the lead singers vocals reminds me of the lead singer from FYC(fine young cannibals), there biggest hit in the 90’s was “she drives me crazy”.
hope u enjoy this joint, you will be hearing much more from them im sure of it.
This weeks shazam joint of the week comes from lykke li- breaking it up
you might of heard some dope chunes from this swedish female artist such as “possibility” from the new moon soundtrack and “little bit” in which hip hops newest star drake vocally remixed (and killed might i add). i don’t really remember where i was when i heard this joint but it had me raising my hand (with my phone) as if i was in grade school class room. hope you lykk
I shazamed this song sometime ago and feel in love with it instantly.A label friend told me a video was being shot for it so it made sense just to wait until it was released to show everything. the song is called “billionaire” by travis mccoy feat bruno mars. you all may know travie from the dynamic group gym class heroes, but this song is gonna be on his solo album. this is the ultimate hustlers anthem minus the guns (some)drugs and super hoodism that most rap inspirational songs have lol. im sure that everyone will be singing this song this summer. hope you enjoy it if you haven’t heard it already.
shazam song of the week comes from imogen heap. you probably know this london native by her song “hide and seek”. its been sampled by the well known producer jr rottem and its also in a string of movies and shows such as snl (shia labeouf hosted the episode and it featured one of my favorite skits to date). the grammy award winning artist also produces, writes and engineeers her songs which is rare these days so that makes her that much awesomer!
i enjoy the melody and music most of all behind this song, so i had to put my phone in the air for this one. hope you enjoy.
